…but the Years are Short.

I found this via The Happiness Project.

This subject is especially moving to me today. Both of my children are out of the house.
One is a college graduate, married, and starting her own business. She has several jobs and will begin grad school on Tuesday.
The other is testing the waters of the Navy, attending UNL, and learning how to get along with a roommate, do laundry, and eat cafeteria food.

I was a stay at home mom with a mother-in-law named Mary Poppins just up the street. She helped me all the time. My children were the center of my life. I was involved with all of their activities. They were involved in ours. We celebrated every holiday. We had a messy house. We had their original paintings all over our walls.
And I couldn’t wait for it all to be over with.
Because the Days Are Long.
Now, I know that the Years Are Short.

There were many days I had to tell myself to Be In The Moment.

I’m so blessed to have stayed home with them. They know it was a sacrifice for us. And it is comforting to know they have great memories of their childhoods.
Raising them was easy.
They Are Great People.
