He’s our Best Man.
My husband’s childhood friend.
Our daughter’s godfather.
Our children’s legal guardian.
And now, he’s the Creighton Alumni Award of Merit recipient.
But, he’s just Tim.
We spent the day at Creighton, attending the ceremony and a Mass and then a reception. The pageantry of the day was beautiful. I enjoyed it FAR more than I thought I would. I wish I would have taken more notes. Tim gave an eloquent, short little talk, saying he loves his family, Creighton, and The Sienna Francis House, where he now works. Many students who received awards were beyond talented, bright and ready for their futures. The word of the day was SERVICE. Service to the poor, to others less fortunate, and to those who need it.
But at the end of the day, after the speeches and pomp and congratulations and proud-of-yous…..he was his best thing of all.
