Archives for the month of: November, 2006

so, I gave up on the bad lights.
And the OLD Christmas tree that cost about $25 twenty years ago at a craft store in Lincoln.
We’ve used it every year.
And it was starting to look like crap.
So, I got a new tree.
WITH lights.
And room for all my orneymants.

But WAIT.
What is that up on the almost top row?
See the UNLIT lights?

I
was
so
MAD!!!!!
But, eventually, after tweaking and fluffing and wiggling the bulbs, they came on.Img_3928_edited
And tonight I decorated it with all those OLD ornaments.
And they looked fine…..but the tree is MUCH bigger than the old tree, so I still need to "fill in".

Those coil-looking thingies are a garland that I made a few years ago, out of squares of fleece, flannel, velvet, feathers, bells, baubles, etc. I love them.

And Megan and Dave stopped by and it was great to see them.
And Lynnette came over for NoodleAndChicken Soup…I put too many noodles in it.
And Matt had a friend over and they mostly stayed in the basement….having fun.
And I ordered lots of things online…free shipping!!!!
All in All…a pretty good day.

If you can’t eat your mom’s boiled turkey throat, wedding cake is the next best thing!

So the wedding festivities are done….and we’re all recovering from various fazes of feeling ishy, queezy and icky. Friday will be a better day.

When I was learning to spell, the teacher always said it like this…
WED
NES
DAY
and I always spelled it right!!!

I’m up late tonight printing off the holiday party invitations for the HunTel Christmas party, to be held at Johnny’s Cafe next month.

I wish I knew Photoshop. I wish I knew desktop publishing.
I graduated from Iowa State University all ready to take on the world of advertising and journalism with my paper, scissors and glue.
BAM
Next thing I knew, I was OB-SO-LEET!!!
Personal Computers were born like the YEAR I graduated.
I tried to get in the boat. I took lots of classes and practiced and made newsletters. But I always wanted them to look better. Not because I’m a perfectionist…..but in my MIND, I knew how to make them look great with tools. I didn’t understand the computer "tools".
But, I plan to keep trying. I just gotta get to work and stop WHINING!!!

In other news
My BOYS fixed my CrapRoom shelves.

NOW all I gotta do is put all THIS stuff back!!!

Img_3884
That’s all.

I do not get along with Christmas Lights.

They are either tangled, light up only half the string, or do not light at all.

Christmas lights in this house
are
disposable.

it would be Nancy.

That’s her over there in the blue. That’s Emily holding the awesome flowers that Megan made (and is selling in her etsy shop!)

If I had another daughter, it would be Emily.

She’s in first grade now. Megan asked her what is her favorite class.
She said "Kindergarten".
She liked her Kindergarten teacher. Her first grade teacher is…well…..not the old teacher.

We had a farewell dinner tonight to say good-bye to Kevin. He is leaving this weekend to go with his Army Guard Unit to Iraq.
To Baghdad.
That war is now personal.
God-Speed Sargeant Smith. And keep your head up.

We’ll keep an eye on your girls.
