I seem to judge the passage of time by my father-in-law’s birthday. Twenty-two years ago, I met him at his birthday party. He was FIFTY.
He is now 72.
He has changed.
I, of course, have not.

Dan and I are starting to get fuzzy about that party. But my memory is pretty good about it because I was VERY nervous. I even remember what I was wearing.
Brown and white striped shorts and a white sweater.

I know he was fifty because there was a young girl there who kept repeating, "it’s nifty to be fifty."

I am 5 years away from that number.

Today, we will celebrate another number. I think birthday’s are just a number to him. He is always positive about birthdays, saying it’s better than the alternative. If you think about it, that’s a pretty good attitude.

Lots of changes in 22 years.
But one thing we DO know, I am still his favorite daughter-in-law!!!
